The temple is of late romanesque style of the 17th century, in its construction were used stones of an old chapel. It has a single nave and a semicircular apse, and is built with very irregular ashlars in height and length. On the western façade it has a door and a small rose window. The door is flat with a small slightly pointed eardrum. In the center of the nave of the hermitage is suspended from the ceiling a miniature of a ship, sample of agradecimiento by the protection offered like lawyer of the sailors.

Also in this area are the remains of a medieval fortress from the XNUMXth century, built by Bishop Sisnando II of Iria to defend the lands of Santiago from the Arab and Norman invaders and which formed part of an ancient defensive system together with the Torres de west in Catoira and with that of San Sadurniño, in Cambados, to deal with the Viking and Norman raids. It is said that when spotting an enemy ship, bonfires were made as a warning method, which were seen from higher points. From these others were made bonfires and thus the notice reached other places much more distant.
