Father Sarmiento has been the source of inspiration for this variant of Portuguese Way through the region of O Salnés. The Dominican monk returned from Madrid to make a pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela in 1745 and documented his 190-kilometre itinerary in the work trip to Galicia. The beautiful journey, baptized with his name, follow the coast between the estuaries Pontevedra and Arousa; starts at the O Burgo bridge and continues along Poio, Sanxenxo, O Grove, Mean, Cambados, To Illa de Arousa, Vilanova de Arousa, Vilagarcía de Arousa, Catoira, Valga and Pontecesuris. From there it converges with the Portuguese Way until it reaches the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela.

by the municipality of O Grove the journey passes end of stage 2, stage 3 in full and the start of stage 4. Both the end of stage 2 and the start of stage 4 correspond to the wooden promenade on the beach of A Lanzada, about two and a half kilometers long.

Step 3: O Grove  (29 Km)

This circular stage by the peninsula of O Grove It begins in the vicinity of the viewpoint of A Lanzada and goes to the parish of San Vicente, first crossing a rural environment and then giving way to a journey bordering the sea almost entirely.

the road offers beautiful views to the islands of Ons and Sálvora and discover an archaeological site, a freshwater lagoon on the edge of the sea and a museum space dedicated to marine culture. Continuing the steps, the route enters the center of O Grove skirting the seaside neighborhoods and its fishing port, to then continue to the island of A Toxa, where the chapel covered with scallop shells stands out.

The last three kilometers of this third stage are those that present a bit of unevenness, since the route deviates to the viewpoint of the mount A Siradella, to be able to enjoy one of the most outstanding views of the Ría de Arousa: the isthmus of A Lanzada, that unites O Grove to the rest of the continent.
