Museum space oriented to show the life and work of Galician fishermen, whose ownership corresponds to the Council of O Grove. The space is made up mainly of two buildings: an old XNUMXth century salting room restored with explanatory panels and a larger nave where the collection of fishing and shellfishing gear is exhibited.

The history of the conception of this ethnographic museum began its journey in the year 2001 with the drafting of the projecto museological in charge of the marine biologist José Luis Escalante González and opens its doors for the first time in 2007.

The information that gives rise to its content, as well as the collection of most of its pieces, comes from the successive exhibitions that, years before, were held at the Seafood Festival, for which the contributions of the sailors of all the coastal towns of Galicia.

These samples began to be held in 1991. Based at the beginning on the exhibition of shellfish and fish in grandes aquariums, were always completed with elements of maritime ethnography whose presence and interest were gaining importance.

Finally, the theme tent sea ​​in, installed during five editions of the Festa do Marisco and dedicated to disseminating the different aspects that underlie the fishing activity in the estuaries, served as the base and start of the project.

It integrates a space connected with O Porto de Meloxo by means of a hiking route that from the beaches of the coast norte of the peninsula of O Grove follow the environment of the aforementioned tip. across a bridge built sobre From the A Coba de la Loba stream you can continue the route that borders the natural port of Meloxo, formed by a small bay and an estuary.

Between O Porto de Meloxo and Moreiras, fifteen salting factories operated at the beginning of the 19th century, but in older times it must have been important as a fishing and salting base, as demonstrated by the existence of a 2nd century Roman villa at the foot of the A Lavaxeira beach.

At the mouth of the O Porto de Meloxo pass we can see the navigate from the dornas and farming tasks mussel.

El Esteiro de Moreiras, productive sand that discovers with the low tides, is frequently visited by the shellfish and shellfish for the collection of clams. To the west, from a rocky elevation, the Illa de Sálvora can be seen guarding the entrance to the Ría de Arousa.

In addition to the two buildings (formerly restored salting factories) that contain the smaller pieces, various large elements can be seen exposed throughout the outdoor area, such as the skeleton of a galleon from the estuaries, the boiler of a steam, a canning autoclave, a collection of grandes anchors, sculptures, etc.
