This natural area is classified as Special Conservation Area (ZEC) and covers the central waters and the margin sur east of the Ría de Arousa, the archipelago of the Ons Islands, belonging to the Atlantic Islands Maritime-Terrestrial National Park, the surrounding marine waters and a small coastal section of mainland at the mouth of the Ría de Pontevedra.
