Formerly located in the place of Aldariz, to be transferred from 1.670 to 1.780 to the town of Sanxenxo.
The style is known as “Sailor style” characteristic of the mendicant orders from the 1.688th to the 1.710th centuries and widespread along the Galician coast. The plan of the building is rectangular, with an apse narrower than the nave, with two chapels on the sides to form the arms of the cross: the chapel of San José (1.688) and the chapel of Purification (1.710). The roof is gabled.
In the main chapel stands out a baroque altarpiece from the end of the XNUMXth century. On the façade it is currently exhibited at the Virgen del Carmen with halo in the shape of a scallop. Above we can see a rose window and a simple carved stone cross.
In this temple, the Virgen del Carmen, San Xinés and Santa Rosalía de Palermo (hermit lawyer against the plague, represented in a wood carving) are venerated. One of the traditions Linked to this chapel was the Pelegrinatio de la Virgen in the month of May through the houses of the parish of San Xinés. in this particular “pilgrimage”, the Virgin stayed a couple of days in each house, which had to be open to anyone who wanted to see her. When moving from one house to another, a procession was made, and as the image passed, the best sheets and blankets available were taken out of the windows and balconies.
